Additional Seller Requirements:
As an organizer of a selling event, Minnesota State Law requires us to
obtain a Certificate of Compliance, Form ST-19 or similar written
statement from sellers. Form ST-19 can be found on the Minnesota
Department of Revenue website at www.taxes.state.mn.us
As an alternative to form ST-19, the seller may submit a written
statement stating that the seller makes sales of $500 or less during
the calendar year and that the seller participates in only one event
per calendar year that lasts no more than three days and includes the
seller's name, address and telephone number. For a pdf document format, Click here.
Sellers may complete form ST-19 or the written statement prior to
arriving at the event; however, we will have forms available to fill
out at the event. We are required to collect this information prior to
selling an admission ticket to the seller at the event.
Additional information can be found in Fact Sheet 148 and the 2005
Sales and Use Tax Regular Session Law Change Bulletin dated June 2005
posted on the Minnesota Department of Revenue website. Please contact
the Minnesota Department of Revenue with any questions you have about
the sales and use tax registration and/or other Minnesota state tax
requirements. They list contact information on their website.
You may bring your own edibles but please don't start
selling food or beverages to compete with the vendor who paid for the privilege.
Violators will be asked to cease selling or leave the Swapfest.
If you are coming from the north, south, or east:
Follow I-694 or I-494 east to I-94, take I-94 west-bound towards St. Paul. Go one mile WEST to Century
Ave Exit #247. Go NORTH 2 stop lights and turn LEFT on CONWAY AVE. Go WEST .8
miles to the TAILGATE SWAPFEST entrance at 5th St.
From St. Paul & Minneapolis:
Follow I-94 east-bound through St. Paul
to McKnight Road NORTH exit # 246C. Go NORTH 2 stop lights and turn RIGHT on CONWAY AVE.
Go EAST .2 miles to the TAILGATE SWAPFEST entrance on 5th St.
Tailgate Swapfest is held entirely outdoors, rain or shine!. We
provide the location and you provide everything else. Bring your own tables or blankets to
hold your equipment. Bring a chair if you want one and a canopy or something if you want
shade. Don't forget a hat and sun screen lotion for walking around the Swapfest. Also
bring plastic or an umbrella or canopy to cover you and your gear in case of rain.
(We gave up on the parking ramp idea because so many vehicles were too tall for the ramp.) There is no
electricity in the parking lot so bring a (quiet) generator if you need AC power. We don't
provide garbage service, so if you bring something in and it doesn't sell, be sure you
haul it away again.
The parking lot is private property and is patrolled by security guards.
There is no camping allowed. Except for the TwinsLAN setup crew, please don't plan to arrive
before 6:00 AM. Sellers will be let into the lot at 6:45 AM for setup and buyers at 7 AM
when the Swapfest opens. If you are driving
a long distance you will need to make other arrangements for parking the night before the Swapfest.
There are numerous motels and camp grounds in the area.
KMart and Walmart usually allow over-night parking in their store parking lots.
The 3M Club organization is having their
"Everything Under the Sun Sale"
the same weekend in another parking lot at 3M CENTER. Sellers pay a fee but buyers get in free.
Bring the wife and set her loose!
Click here to view the 2014 TAILGATE SWAPFEST flyer
or the Tailgate half-sheet mailer in pdf format.
Please print your own copies and hand them out to your friends, at work, and at club meetings.
Our mailing list is limited and not everyone will receive a copy of the flyer in the mail.
Travel is getting expensive so mention Tailgate Swapfest on the air and arrange to car pool with your friends!
If you have additional questions that are not answered here, send
email to tailgate@twinslan.net and someone will
get back to you.
TwinsLAN has started an email list specifically for people who enjoy going to hamfests and want minimum
hassle finding when and where they are. This email list is good only for hamfests within the state of Minnesota
or near its borders. If you are interested in hamfests, you should subscribe to this email list. If your club
is holding a hamfest within Minnesota or near its borders, you just need to send an email to the list.
After the email is reviewed by the list moderators, it will be forwarded to the list subscribers.
